Digitalisation has influenced the labour market in Romania, and temporary agency work is no exception. This study examines how technology has reshaped the triangular relationship between temporary work agencies, user companies, and temporary employees, from recruitment through to the termination of the employment relationship. Drawing on the normative framework introduced by Government Emergency Ordinance No 36/2021 and Law No 214/2024 on electronic signatures, the analysis shows how the Romanian Labour Code now permits the conclusion, modification, and termination of individual temporary employment contracts by electronic means, subject to the employee's written agreement. Particular attention is given to the REGES-Online platform, which since April 2025 has enabled real-time registration and monitoring of temporary employment contracts by the Labour Inspectorate. The study argues that this shift from a paper-based to a hybrid or fully digital model strengthens legal certainty for all three parties to the relationship, while reducing the risk of undeclared work, and identifies the development of a unified digital identity for temporary employees as a plausible next step in this process.
