Authors retain copyright of their published work. Upon acceptance, authors grant Ars æqui a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the article under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, which allows unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided appropriate credit is given.

For any material included in a submission that is not the author's own (such as figures, images, or excerpts owned by a third party) authors are responsible for obtaining permission from the relevant copyright holder prior to submission, and for providing appropriate attribution.

Authors are free to deposit any version of their article in institutional or subject repositories, post it on personal or institutional websites, or otherwise distribute it, at any time before or after publication, provided the published version is properly cited.
